Benefits of Golden Milk:

Better Digestion:

Curcumin, which is the active ingredient in turmeric, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries due to its therapeutic benefits. Multiple studies have shown that turmeric helps fight gas, bloating and indigestion. The ginger, another common ingredient in the golden milk is excellent to combat nausea and relieve stomach aches.

Happier Muscles:

As a natural anti-inflammatory, turmeric can relieve muscle and joint pain and even help with headaches.

Shield against the Flu / Colds:

One of the best remedies for a bad cold is a hot glass of turmeric milk at night. Turmeric milk just before bedtime can also help relieve throat pain symptoms.

“It helps protect the body from respiratory infections due to its antimicrobial properties”.

Weight Loss Support:

Although more research has to be done in this area, turmeric has been shown to accelerate metabolism in mice in two separate studies.

Increase Good Cholesterol:

The raw coconut oil that is often used in golden milk has been shown to help raise good cholesterol in the body. It has even been shown to fight tooth decay!

Most of the time, golden milk is made with normal milk. When using normal milk, choose 1% or 2% organic milk for some healthy fats and satiety. Conventional cow’s milk comes from farms where cows receive antibiotics and hormones, and are fed with GMO (genetically modified organism) foods – and the byproduct of those additives ends up in milk. Organic milk comes from cows that are given organic food or raised in pastures, and are not given any antibiotics or hormones. So it is important to always choose organic milk for this drink. But if you are lactose intolerant, or are trying to avoid normal milk, or are vegetarian, then coconut milk is a good alternative for this drink. When using coconut milk it is important to obtain unsweetened coconut milk without carrageenan (which is a processed ingredient that causes inflammation in the body). Coconut milk is beneficial because coconuts are rich in vitamins C, E, B1, and B3, B5 and B6 and minerals such as iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

But coconut milk has almost no protein, so that is a disadvantage of using it instead of normal milk. If you are looking for a protein-filled drink (along with the benefits of turmeric), coconut milk will not provide that. For that reason, this drink is best made with normal organic milk to obtain calcium, vitamin D and protein along with the benefits of turmeric.
